What we’ve been up to
Hi :) we’re a non-profit event producer/promoter based in Montreal. KickDrum started up in 2015 with the goal of making show booking more accessible to newer/less established artists, and since then we’ve managed to put on over 100 shows for folks** from Montreal and beyond. Since 2015 we’ve grown as a team to include a rotating cast of volunteers and a few more permanent fixtures – Josh Spencer, Liz Houle, Felix Viton Ho, and Zach Smith. Our scope has grown too; we’ve expanded to put on festivals, event series, and provide resources for artists whenever possible.

Our hopes n dreams
Our more long term goals are to begin regularly hosting workshops to help artists with everything from the practical administrative tasks (grant writing, registering with SOCAN, booking a tour, making an EPK etc) to the more fun creative aspects of music (songwriting, home recording, screen printing merch, making music videos etc).
We’d also like to more thoroughly document our music community and the shows and experiences that we’ve shared with y’all. The first step in this process was building this website in order to house photos, videos, interviews and podcasts. The next step will be content creation and archiving so that we can hold a mirror up to the loving, beautiful community that we get to be a part of <3
Finally the thing we will forever be working on is accessibility – we would like to start applying to grants more consistently so that we always have the ability to support artists who are underrepresented in the community and also those who may need an extra hand in accessing the resources they need to succeed. We would also like to be able to offer our services on a sliding scale 100% of the time and be open to skills trading!
